Upstate radio station to provide thousands of valentines to children of GHS Children’s Hospital

Greenville, SC – January 6, 2016 – WSPA-FM, Magic 98.9 and Anderson Pediatric Denistry are gearing up for the second annual Cards for Kids in partnership with the Greenville Health System’s Children’s Hospital. Last year’s campaign brought in an outstanding 5,100 cards for the kids and the station is anticipating an even larger number this year.

“Last year was amazing, seeing the thousands of cards Magic 98.9 listeners sent for the kids at the GHS Children’s Hospital. I’m looking forward to making Valentine’s Day special for even more kids this year,” says Steve Sinicropi, Entercom Greenville’s Vice President and Market Manager.

Magic 98.9 is asking the Upstate to come together and remember the kids who aren’t able to be in church, school, or with their friends and family to receive valentines because of sickness and other health-related problems. How can you help? The station is asking that anyone and everyone create homemade valentines for these kids. The cards should be sent to the radio station where their team will arrange and sort them into care packages that include games and station goodies. The day before Valentine’s Day, the station staff and volunteers will deliver the care packages to all the kids at the Children’s Hospital.

“I am so proud of all of the work Magic 98.9 has done with GHS Children’s Hospital. I am so blessed to have a job that allows me to give back and I cannot think of a better organization to partner with for great giving opportunities like Radiothon and Cards for Kids; our community really pulls together to help bring smiles to the kids of GHS,” says Sheri Taylor, Mid-Day Personality on Magic 98.9.

Here are the guidelines for creating the valentines:
1. Say “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
2. Create original, “homemade” cards which show how much you care
3. Make cards sound positive, loving, and uplifting
4. Because children will come from many different social backgrounds and medical histories, please omit references to “get well” or “hope you feel better”
5. No glitter or loose attachments
6. No candy or toys
7. Please don’t include your personal contact information or address the card to a specific name
8. Please don’t seal envelopes
9. Create as MANY as you want, but please separate your cards in GENDER SPECIFIC groups (boys/girls)
10. Have fun!

Send cards between January 5th and February 10th:
