The Rise Guys partner with Marines for their 12th Annual 28 Hour Broadcast

November 23, 2015 – The Rise Guys Morning Show and 93.3 The Planet wrapped up their 12th Annual 28 Hour Broadcast benefiting Toys for Tots last Thursday and Friday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The top-rated morning show broadcasted live from outside of the venue’s main entrance for 28 hours straight in an effort to collect toys and donations of Toy for Tots. over the last 12 years, over $750k in toys have been raised to benefit underprivileged children in the Upstate during the holidays.

This year, the Upstate came together and raised over $8,600, including 2,932 toys that will be distributed to Upstate children this holiday season. During the event, the Marines set up artillery sites for donors to get a glimpse of how their set up looks during missions. The set up included sandbags walls, camouflage tents and netting, machine guns, humvees, rifles, and suppression trucks. As an added bonus, donors receive complimentary food from various event sponsors including: Dunkin Donuts, Jersey Mike’s, PDQ, and McDonald’s. The event hosted many familiar faces including, the Voice’s Benton Blount, the Clemson Tiger and Rally Cats, and the Reedy River Duck Derby’s mascot, “Shades.”

The primary goal of the 28 Hour Broadcast and Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate children where they get to experience the joy of Christmas.
